A new day has come for many cities across Arkansas and especially for Dumas. On December 4, not only in our capitol city of Little Rock, but also in Dumas, we have new mayors who are the first African Americans elected in the history of their cities. And these mayors are just two of many other African American mayors throughout the state now serving Arkansas from the smallest to the largest city. What does this mean? In the case of Dumas with Flora Simon, being both an African American and a female, I see this combination as one that Dumas can uniquely apply and incorporate as ‘A CITY UNITED’ for progress in Dumas and the Delta. Our city has a new testimony of how we have come together. We have a new beginning to invite people near and abroad to come home to Dumas, to see and celebrate; City P.R.I.D.E. – Positive Results in Dumas, EVERYDAY!
